PARAÑAQUE, Oct. 24, 2015 – The Diocese of Parañaque (DOP)’s Commission on Youth is set to hold this year’s Diocesan Youth Day (DYD) dubbed “Mission Possible” (MP9) with a whole day of talks, sharing, and other activities that will make delegates go home and to their parishes “renewed with love and blessings” and a new perspective on the poor.

Now on its 9th installment, the annual gathering of young Catholics from various parishes in Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Muntinlupa is scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Parish (Bamboo Organ Church), Padre Diego Cera Avenue, Las Piñas City.

As a culminating event for the Year of the Poor, MP9 aims that all participants:

  • Become aware of forms of poverty as well as their own poverty;

  • Learn how to root out their poverty, identify poverty in others, and do what they can help alleviate this;

  • Try their best to imitate Jesus in His life-giving generosity.

Themed “Love-to-Go: To See and Bring Jesus Where I Go,” MP9, takes its inspiration from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) call for “Love and Compassion, Forgiveness and Challenge,” and the Parañaque diocese’s thrust, “Pamayanan ng mga Aba, Bayang Pinagpala.”

The event will be guided by the verse “I have come to give life, and to give it to the full” from Jn 10:10.

Manaloto went on to promise an MP9 entirely different from previous MPs.

According to her, one of the activities they prepared will have participants actually immersing themselves in barangays, allowing them to concretize the message of the Year of the Poor.

This way, she noted, their passion in serving the Lord will be rekindled, inspiring each one to pass it on to fellow youth.

“To the youth of the Diocese of Parañaque, as we celebrate Mission Possible 9, let us look in our hearts and see and feel God’s love beating and alive within us. That love will never stop, will never weaken, and will never harm us. Bring that love wherever you go and it will surely grow,” Manaloto stressed. (Rebekah Jean S. Jacobe / DOP with Raymond A.
