MANILA, March 29, 2015 — Young people adoring Jesus with their friends. This is the vision of Oremus 2015, a Lenten Eucharistic Adoration, set on March 30, Holy Monday, 7:30 p.m. at the Our Lady of the Abandoned (OLA) parish, J.P. Rizal Street, Sta. Elena, Marikina City.
Organized by the OLA Parish Youth Ministry, this year’s Oremus, just like the last one will have a pre-Adoration event open to all young people, a Youth Festival at 3:30 p.m., which will feature activity stations that will focus on “Saints of the Poor” like St. Francis of Assisi, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Martin de Porres, Blessed Mother Teresa, among others.
Because this year’s Oremus is also inspired by the Year of the Poor, the activity stations aim to inspire young people to emulate the saints’ example of loving service to the poor.
This year, the Oremus’ twin objectives are to:
- encourage the faithful to participate in the Church’s mission, especially during the Year of the Poor
- allow the faithful to see Jesus in the faces and in the experiences of the poor and in the Blessed Sacrament
Some 500 lay people of Marikina responded to the OLA Youth Ministry’s invitation to worship together at the 1st Oremus on April 14, 2014.
Oremus, a Latin word, means “Let us pray”. (CBCPNews with reports from Yuan Paolo Nebres)
