MANILA, May 2, 2015—The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Youth (CBCP-ECY) is calling on young Filipino to participate in the prayer and solidarity gatherings of the Taizé community this May.

Marking the 75th year of the Taizé community, members are exhorting the Filipino youth to observe a day of prayer on May 12 (or any nearby date) and do “acts of solidarity” throughout the year.

The celebration will be observed not just in the country, but also in different parts of the globe.

The event also commemorates the 100th birth anniversary of Bro. Roger Schutz, founder of the ecumenical community of Taizé in France.

Young ipeople around the world are invited to recall the life of Schutz and heed his call to follow Christ by organizing prayer gatherings where they live and finding practical ways of demonstrating solidarity with others.

In Taizé, a presentation on Schutz’ life will be shown on May 10. A variety of workshops and a prayer of thanksgiving will follow.
