MANILA, Jan. 16, 2017— The local chief executive of Marilao, Bulacan has declared a special non-working holiday in the entire town for the 4th World Apostolic Congress of Mercy (WACOM).
Mayor Juanito Santiago signed Executive Order No. 2016-34 declaring Jan. 19 a special non-working holiday in all government offices in the municipality.
“It is fitting and proper that the catholic community in marilao be given full opportunity to participate and celebrate this momentous event,” Santiago said.
Marilao is home to the well-known National Shrine of the Divine Mercy where the fourth day of the WACOM will be held.
In the morning, delegates will be brought to their designated “places of mercy” where they will be shown the corporal and spiritual services given to the less fortunate.
Nueva Caceres Archbishop Rolando Tria Tirona is also set to deliver his talk “Witnessing to the Mercy of God as the Church of and for the Poor” with Mr. Antonio Meloto of Gawad Kalinga to give his testimony.
After the talks, a Mass will be held that will be presided over by Bishop Martin Uzoukwu of Minna diocese, in Nigeria with Malolos Bishop Jose Oliveros as the homilist.
To follow is the blessing and dedication of the 100-ft statue of the Divine Mercy atop a four-storey multi-purpose building to perpetuate the memory of WACOM 2017. (CBCPNews)
