NAVOTAS City, Dec. 25, 2015 – Manila Archbishop Luís Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle did not see it coming.
Asking over a dozen children of Tulay ng Kabataan Foundation (Tnk) on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at San Lorenzo Parish, Navotas City, about their specific dreams and aspirations, the prelate received the usual responses—except for one.
While most of the children Tagle interviewed want to become doctors, police officers, flight attendants, and teachers when they grow up, one girl gave an answer totally different: “Pag-ibig” [Love].
“Pag-ibig!” said a girl with speech disorder who introduced herself as Rona Hernandez.
At first, the cardinal seemed unsure whether he heard the right word until the young woman kept saying “Pag-ibig” many times over amid rounds of applause.
“That’s it! Love! This child simply wants to be Love. This is her dream. To be Love,” Tagle exclaimed.
Hundreds of hildren and volunteers of TnK from various parts of Metro Manila and Luzon gathered on Wednesday to spend their Christmas Party this year.
In Jan. 16 this year, the Catholic foundation made headlines when Pope Francis paid an “unexpected visit” to its center in Intramuros, Manila, meeting with children who used to live on the streets. (Raymond A. Sebastián / CBCP News)
