HAGONOY, Bulacan, May 1, 2016 – The town of Hagonoy is proud to be home to the Parish Church of St. Anne, which will celebrate a quarter of a century as a national shrine.
Promulgated in 1991 decision by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, the shrine will mark 25 years as a national shrine come Oct. 29.
According to Msgr. Luciano C. Balagtas, P.C., episcopal vicar for the Western District of the Diocese of Malolos, Parish Church of St. Anne parish priest and rector, preparations are underway for the major event.
He said although it is far from accessible roads, the church of this delta town down the western coast of Bulacan province under the Diocese of Malolos has bloomed with many vocations, thanks to widespread devotion to the mother of the Blessed Virgin, who is known to locals as “Apo Ana”.
The said shrine is one of three national shrines in the diocese, which includes Divine Mercy shrine in Marilao, Bulacan and the Our Lady of Fatima shrine in Valenzuela City. (Kendrick Ivan Panganiban / Manuel Geon dela Cruz / CBCP News)
