SFC leader dies after stroke

MANILA, July 10, 2016— A lay missionary who was supposed to lead the Singles for Christ’s delegation to the World Youth Day in Poland  died early Sunday.

Erick Abad, 38, suffered a stroke and was rushed to a hospital in Parañaque City at around 7pm on Saturday. He was pronounced dead at 2:40am the following day.

Abad was the regional coordinator of SFC, one of the family ministries of Couples for Christ, for South Asia as part of its international missions.

In 2011, he attended the WYD in Madrid, Spain and went on mission around Europe after.

He was supposed to head the group’s delegation to the WYD in Krakow. Few weeks before he died, however, he decided not to attend the gathering citing the lack of funds.

Abad’s wake is at the Fr. Willmann Chapel of the Holy Trinity Memorial Chapels in Parañaue City. (CBCPNews)
