MANILA, Oct. 18, 2014 — Want a “saintly” make up transformation to post on social media for a change? A Facebook page called Kabataang Katoliko launched the Saintify social media campaign on Oct. 17, which calls on young people to feature their favorite saint in the popular makeup transformations posted online.
“Why look ugly when you can be a saint? And why look like a monster when you are more of a saint?” the campaign said.
The campaign is timely. especially with the approach of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
“All of us have a favorite saint and they have shown exemplary lives. So when we try to imitate their [facial expression] and their looks, we also try to follow their holiness of life, one of the administrators of the group who declined to be identified, explained.
“That is why the hashtag is #Iwanttobecomeasaint,” he added.
Some of the saints young people have chosen to “saintify” into include Saints Pedro Calungsod, Dominic Savio, Roche (Roque), Philomena, and Lucy.
“We hope that through this campaign, we raise awareness [of] young people on social media to emulate the holiness and lives of the saints,” he added.
Those who would like to feature their Saintify photos and get more information about the campaign, may search and like the Kabataang Katoliko page on Facebook. (Rainier Flor Marquez)
