PASAY City, Sept. 15, 2015 – Want to prove that you’re smarter than a Catholic grade schooler?
The Word & Life Publications and Word Media Ministry invite the faithful who will be attending the 36th Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) starting on Sept. 16 until Sept. 20, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the SMX, Mall of Asia (MOA) Complex in Pasay City, to take part in a special Catholic-themed quiz bee it is set host “in the service of evangelization and catechesis.”
“This intends to help and encourage Catholics to dig deep into their faith,” shared Gigi Pasayloon, Word & Life promotion and events coordinator, in an interview.
Boosting Catholic IQ
Dubbed “Are You Smarter Than A Catholic Grade Schooler?”, the contest also aims to test participants’ Catholic IQ, and to enrich their understanding of official Church teaching by posing questions from the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) and the Catechism for Filipino Catholics (CFC).
“We feel embarrassed whenever we cannot give the right answers to questions being asked of us. That is why this quiz bee wants to challenge all contestants, especially those who grew up Catholics but seem to be ignorant of their faith, to study more about what the Church believes and teaches in order to make them better evangelizers,” Pasayloon explained.
Prizes at stake
Interested parties can join by presenting proofs of purchase of any Word & Life product.
“Exciting prizes await winners of the quiz bee,” Pasayloon added.
The Word & Life Publications is Booth # 221 at the 36th MIBF.
Among others, products to be sold are: Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) and the Catechism for Filipino Catholics (CFC), Pope Francis’ Laudato Si with study guide, papal visit items, inspirational literature on Word & Life patron St. John Bosco, catechetical tools for children, retreat materials, and books by Scott Hahn, Kimberly Hahn, and Mark Miravelle.
