MANILA, May 12, 2014— A Catholic priest called on former senator Panfilo Lacson to spill the beans on Cabinet executives allegedly hindering rehabilitation efforts in typhoon ‘Yolanda‘-ravaged areas.
Fr. Edu Gariguez of the National Secretariat for Social Action (Nassa) said the rehabilitation czar should avoid blind items and instead identify these “uncooperative” Cabinet officials.
“He (Lacson) should name names and not just making accusations. If it’s true, he should identify them to resolve the problem,” Gariguez said.
Last week, Lacson revealed that at least two Cabinet members have not been cooperating with his office.
According to him, these officials would not even respond to official communications resulting in delays in rehabilitation work in several typhoon-hit areas.
The Nassa official is hoping that the concerned agencies will just work together to help the ‘Yolanda‘survivors instead of squabbling and politicking.
“The government must put their acts together to be efficient in delivering services…We need to do away with politicking, grandstanding or credit grabbing,” said Gariguez.
“The driving motivation must be to serve the needy,” he added. (CBCPNews)
