LINGAYEN, June 2, 2013 – A priest called on thousands of children and their parents to join the Pope in a Eucharistic adoration for the intention of a Church more willing to follow Christ.
During the last holy mass of the Luzon Kids Village (LKV) this morning, Msgr. Allen Aganon asked 2,500 kids and parents to join the entire Church all over the world in praying for the intention of the Holy Father at 11 p.m., Philippine time.
‘More obedient Church’
From 5 to 6 p.m., Rome time, Pope Francis will be leading a Eucharistic adoration, praying for the intention that the Church “may be ever more obedient to hearing [Jesus’] Word in order to stand before the world ‘ever more beautiful, without stain or blemish, but holy and blameless,” according to the Vatican Information Service.
The intention for more “obedience” is directly in line with KFC’s own formation theme for the year, “Follow Jesus”, based on the miracle at Cana and the turning of water into wine.
The said Eucharistic Adoration, themed ‘One Lord, One Faith’, will also be the first event that the Universal Church will simultaneously take part in, making it “historical” in many ways.
In ending his homily, Msgr. Aganon asked the LKV delegates who wanted to be a saint. A lot of kids and adults raised their hands. He reminded them that to be a saint, one needs to pray. It is like exercising the “muscle of the soul.”
He also talked about the value of kindness and compassion. Msgr. Aganon, who is the spiritual director of Couples for Christ, played the song “An Act of Kindness” to show how a random act of kindness can touch other people. He said, we can do acts of kindness wholeheartedly if Jesus is in our hearts.
The LKV 2013 just ended this morning at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center, Lingayen, Pangasinan.
Some 2,500 kids and parents coming from Metro Manila, Quezon, Bicol, Palawan and Mindoro attended the event, which started last May 31. [Nirva’ana Ella Delacruz with reports from Zairra Engracia]
