MANILA, May 4, 2015— The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) has showered praise on new Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman Andy Bautista.
PPCRV national chairperson Henrietta de Villa said the electoral chief is capable of leading orderly and credible elections next year.
“He is a very good man, a very capable man,” De Villa said when asked about Bautista, who currently heads the Presidential Commission on Good Governance.
“At least, I am thanking President Aquino that by naming Andy Bautista as Comelec chair. He is leaving a good legacy in the elections,” she said.
De Villa said she knows Bautista very well because he is a PPCRV board member. “He has PPCRV’s full support,” she said.
“He is a very principled man. He has his good values working for him and with him so I’m sure he would be able to handle himself very well,” added De Villa.
Bautista will replace former Comelec chief Sixto Brillanes Jr., who retired last February.
Aquino also appointed Rowena Guanzon and Sheriff Abas as new Comelec commissioners to fill out vacancies left by retired poll officials Lucenito Tagle and Elias Yusoph.
“I just hope that with the two new commissioners, (Comelec officials) will be able to work together as a team for the good of elections,” De Villa said. (Roy Lagarde/CBCPNews)
