MANILA, Oct. 23, 2014–A “place of pilgrimage” in Cebu City continues to attract large numbers of faithful in order to gain plenary indulgence.
Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma declared that a plenary indulgence is granted to Catholics who visit the Church of the Carmelite Monastery in the city’s Mabolo village for the upcoming 500th death anniversary of St. Therese of Avila.
The indulgence is available to those who, under the usual conditions, make a pilgrimage to the church between last March 28 of this year and the same date in 2015.
“…I grant to every Catholic person who visits this parish church a plenary indulgence after praying the once Credo, and one Salve under the usual conditions,” Palma said in a decree made public last February.
The move stemmed from a request of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites to declare a “Special Year of Grace” for the Church of the Carmelite Monastery. (CBCPNews)
