MANILA, Sept. 14, 2015— The Philippine Embassy to the Holy See is reminding seminarians, priests, and the religious in Rome to register as voters for the May 2016 elections.

With only around a month left before the deadline, registration has been ongoing since January at the Philippine Embassy on Via Paolo VI, 29.

Josephine Bantug, assistant to the Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See, said they have until Oct. 15 to complete their registration requirements.

There are about 400 Filipino priests, religious, and seminarians in Rome.

Fr. Gregory Ramon Gaston, rector of Pontificio Collegio Filipino, said there are some 100 priests, 200 nuns and another 100 seminarians.

“That’s a very rough estimate since they come and go anytime,” said Gaston.

He said many others are based in Italian provinces or in other countries as missionaries but are temporarily in Rome which makes the exact figure “impossible to keep track [of].” (CBCP News)
