MANILA, April 20, 2015–Stamp collectors now have something to look forward to–the Philippine Postal Corporation’s first 3D-embossed souvenir sheet made with 21-karat gold ink on the “Kaplag” or the “finding” of the image of the Sto. Niño de Cebu.
The 450 years of finding the image of the child Jesus stamps is classified as “commemorative,” with a denomination of P10 and a quantity of 400,000 pieces that will be unveiled at SM City Cebu on April 20
“The PHLPost pays its homage to the image of Señor Sto. Niño of Cebu, the source of hope and faith of the people, who is historically recognized as the oldest religious relic in the Philippines,” Postmaster General Josie Dela Cruz said.
The anniversary of Kaplag will also commemorate the 450 years of Augustinian presence in the Philippines and the 50th anniversary of the Sto. Niño Church’s elevation to “Basilica Minore”.
PHLPost also printed 30,000 copies of souvenir sheets featuring the 21 gold ink, 3D embossed souvenir sheet at P200 each.
The souvenir sheet design features the official logo of the Sto. Niño Anniversary Committee and was designed by PHLPost in-house artist Rodine Teodoro. (CBCPNews)
