PARAÑAQUE City, May 13, 2014—The Redemptorist family is inviting Our Mother of Perpetual Help devotees with a knack for the arts to take part in a worldwide logo design contest it is conducting in preparation for the beloved icon’s 150thanniversary in 2016.
“The icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help is without doubt the most universally loved icon in the Church…The anniversary is a time for us to rekindle our love for and devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help, even as she accompanies us in the mission of evangelization,” said Fr. Brendan Kelly, head of the Commission for the 150th Anniversary of the Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
According to Kelly, the graphic design should include the image of Our Mother of Perpetual Help and reflect the theme: Mother of Perpetual Help – Icon of Love.
The congregation will use the winning logo worldwide to promote the major event to take place in 2016.
As a memento, he will get a special copy of the Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
The Commission will also award him a cash prize of 300€ (roughly Php 18, 000) for his efforts.
Each contestant must provide a single image file including both black and white and color versions of logo on a white background (no transparency), in .jpg or .gif or .png format, placed in a 400×600 pixel format with a resolution of 72 dpi.
He must also submit a single multi-page pdf set for high resolution, containing the following in this order and with the following page restrictions:
Page 1: logo in color
Page 2: logo in black and white
Page 3: and 4: logo shown in use (e.g. webpage, invitations, reports, T-shirt, etc)
Page 5: documentation (summary description or explanation of logo symbolism, designer’s intent)
Page 6: short biographic information of the designer
Submitted files may not exceed 10 mb.
Contestants should email their entries to email@example.com not later than the midnight of July 31, 2014 (GMT).
Kelly sees the contest as an invigoration of the mandate given to the Redemptorists to “make her known”.
He hopes that the theme and the logo to be designed will communicate this anniversary for what it is: a time of grace.
