STA. ROSA City, Laguna, Oct. 12, 2015 – It was a dream come true for young Mckaila Zyrel De Vera of Valenzuela City, when she finally met Philippine television’s newest sweetheart and Catholic Social Media awardee, Maine Mendoza a.k.a. “Yaya Dub,” a few days before she turns seven on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
It all started when the girl’s mom saw a letter she wrote on a piece of crumpled paper, expressing her wish to see Yaya Dub in person.
The letter reads:
“Dear Papa Jesus,
Hello po! Malapit na po 7th birthday ko. (My 7th birthday is coming up.) Wish ko po sana Makita si Ate Yaya Dub kaya lang imposible kasi sikat na sikat na siya saka sobrang busy. (It’s my wish to see Yaya Dub, but it’s impossible because she’s so famous and she might be really busy.) Papa Jesus, I know it’s not impossible but I believe that wishes do come true.
Mckaila Zyrel De Vera”
Along with this letter, Mckaila’s mom, Elaine, sent a direct message of her own letter to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Media Office’s official Papal Visit Twitter page, hoping she would be able to grant her daughter’s wish with the help of the Philippine Church body.
In part, it says:
“I found this letter at (sic) the pocket of my daughter’s bag; crumpled. She was turning 7 this Oct. 13. Sadly she’s upset because her father can’t make it to her birthday celebration. He is an OFW. So I asked her kung bakit niya nilukot yung letter. She answered me with a very sad face, “Kasi Mama impossible po matupad wish ko eh. Tapos hindi pa makakauwi si Papa.” Pinilit ko po huwag umiyak sa harap niya Ms. Maine kaya pumunta na lang ako sa room namin at humugot ng malalim na hinga. (Because Mama, it’s impossible for my wish to come true and Papa won’t even be able to come home)”
“She said in the letter that wishes do come true. I hope you can give her that kahit glimpse lang. As a mother I will do everything for her. I even planned a grand birthday for her. But that’s her only wish to see you po, Ms. Maine. Her Papa won’t be able to make it, but I still have HOPE that her wish could come true.”
The meeting between Mckaila and Maine took place on the second day of the 4th Catholic Social Media Summit (CSMSv4.0) at Sta. Rosa City, Laguna where the comedienne together with Kalyeserye co-actor Wally “Lola Nidora” Bayola and her producer were invited to accept their first Catholic Social Media Awards (CSMA).
