OZAMIZ City, Nov. 30, 2016 – Archbishop Martin Sarmiento Jumoad will be installed today, Nov. 30, as second Metropolitan of Ozamiz in liturgical rites to be presided over by the Papal Nuncio to the Philippines Giuseppe Pinto at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.
The prelate comes from Cebu City and was ordained priest of the Moslem-dominated Prelature of Isabela in Basilan province on April 7, 1983.
He was appointed Prelate of Isabela on Nov. 21, 2001 at age 45 and ordained bishop on Jan. 10, 2002.
Last Oct. 4,2016, he was appointed Archbishop of Ozamiz, succeeding Archbishop Jesus Armamento Dosado, C.M., who led the archdiocese for over three decades.
Ozamis has four suffragan dioceses which include Dipolog, Iligan, Pagadian, and the territorial prelatature of Marawi.
