MANILA, Aug. 20, 2016 – Hangad, a group of young professionals bound by their common desire to help others know God through music, marks their 25th year this 2016 with a brand new album titled “Glory & Praise” out on Aug. 27.
Co-produced by the Jesuit Music Ministry (JMM) and the Jesuit Communications Foundation (JesCom), the album features 17 songs all meant for use during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, including several new psalms and responses. According to a JesCom press release, “the album contains mostly original compositions and arrangements from the members themselves, songs that are not only fit for the Mass but also suitable for quiet time and personal reflection.”
A song-learning session will kick off the launch so the congregation can join in the singing of the new songs during the celebration of the Holy Mass which follows immediately after.
After the Eucharistic celebration, Hangad will perform the remaining songs from the album, and perhaps one or two old favorites. Admission to this event is absolutely free. No tickets required.
Since 1991, Hangad has sung in countless Masses and weddings, performed in numerous fund-raising concerts and events, and has held several workshops for parish choirs, all towards “providing everyday inspiration for listeners and fellow music ministers everywhere,” reads the press release.
Aside from its ten albums under JesCom, Hangad has also produced five music videos. In 2006, Hangad won the Awit Award for best inspirational /religious song for “Pieta: Oyayi sa Paanan ni Hesus” from the album THE EASTER JOURNEY.
