MANILA, September 11, 2014 — A Catholic bishop said a phony priest has been making rounds in the country, going into people’s homes, celebrating Mass and asking for money.
Bishop Leopoldo Tumulak of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines (MOP) said a certain Crisanto Bantigue is pretending to someone he is not — a military chaplain or monsignor.
Bantigue has reportedly been going around the country using the diocese’s name to solicit money
“May I enjoin my fellow bishops and brothers priests to call the MOP Chancery Office (02-911-5666) should you need further clarification,” Tumulak said in a circular letter issued on September 3. (Wendell Talibong)
