QUEZON City, September 21, 2014—The Confraternity of Mary Mediatrix of All Grace is set to spearhead a Marian recollection to be held at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City on December 12, 2014, Friday, as part of the Church-wide spiritual preparation for the upcoming visit of Pope Francis next year.
According to Fr. Melvin Castro, chancellor of the Diocese of Tarlac and founder of the Mediatrix Confraternity, the event is only one among many the faith-centered activities local Church leaders plan to conduct ahead of the Holy Father’s visit scheduled on January 15-19, 2015.
Dubbed “To Jesus Through Mary,” the half-day event which will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. has the official backing of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), Castro said.
Castro, who also serves as executive secretary of CBCP’s Episcopal Commission on Family and Life (ECFL), shared over Church-run Radyo Veritas that the recollection aims to strengthen and deepen the spiritual health of the Filipino faithful, enabling them to contribute to the success of the apostolic visit, especially in terms of reaching out to the survivors of typhoon Yolanda.
