SAN RAFAEL, Bulacan, Nov. 9, 2015 – Led by Commission on Liturgy Director Fr. Francis Carson, the Diocesan Commission on Liturgy of Malolos conducted the annual basic formation seminar for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) on Nov. 7 and 8 at 8 Waves Waterpark and Hotel.
Some 427 new lay ministers from 108 parishes, who attended the event, were commissioned that weekend to begin their ministerial duties as Eucharistic ministers.
EMHC spiritual director Msgr. Andres Valera on Nov. 8 gave a homily on generosity of spirit for the ministers.
“The best gift to an enemy is forgiveness; to a friend is loyalty; to a child is good example; to a father is honor; to a mother is our heart; and, to neighbors is our helping hand,” he said.
Valera also highlighted the real essence of generosity, saying: “It is a virtue that leads to charity and forgiveness, giving yourself, your time and affection to your family, community, and fellow,” he added.
“I was called so I embraced the gift of being able to serve God and His people, as I also intend to have a more fruitful spiritual life,” said Roberto Acosta of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Meycauayan, Bulacan, when asked about his experience during the two-day event.
“As Fr. Carson said, this is a calling so we should be glad to accept it. With God’s grace, I know we can all carry out our tasks in accordance to His will,” he added. (Myraine Carluen Policarpio / CBCP News)
