STA. ROSA City, Laguna, Oct. 11, 2015 – The stars of the hit noontime segment “Kalyeserye,” Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza, Alden Richards, and Wally Bayola as well as its producers have been cited by the Catholic Social Media Awards (CSMA) for their efforts at promoting forgotten Filipino Catholic values in their show earlier this evening.
“Because of the very inspiring message they give during Kalyeserye [about] virtues, values, chivalry, modesty, morality, respect for elders, etc. This is the kind [of show] that we don’t see on TV anymore,” Mon Bandril, a member of the awards committee, explained in an interview.
“Nung sinimulan namin ang Kalye Serye, hindi namin akalain na magiging ganito kalaki. Salamat sa inyo kasi natuto kayong umibig nang tama…na maghintay sa tamang panahon. (When we started Kalye Serye, we didn’t imagine that it would get this big. Thank you to you, all, because you have learned how to love right..to wait for the right time,)” said TAPE vice president and “Eat Bulaga” creative head Jenny Ferre, during her acceptance message at the CSMA awarding after the Catholic Social Media Summit v4.0 at the Sta. Rosa City Hall Auditorium, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.
“Maraming maraming salamat po..Aldub you all. Maraming salamat, Aldub Nation. Para sa inyo po itong lahat! (Thank you very, very much. Thank you very much, Aldub Nation. This is for all of you!),” said Maine Mendoza during the ceremony.

Not just entertaining
The Eat Bulaga talents and producers are the first recipients of CSMA whose launch today at the Sta. Rosa City Hall Auditorium, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, formally ended the fourth installment of the two-day Catholic Social Media Summit (CSMSv4.0).
Richards, however, was not present during the simple ceremonies because of engagements in Japan.
According to Bandril, TAPE Inc., the creator of Kalyeserye, was recognized for its values-rich material; Bayola for his effective portrayal of the superficially tyrannical but genuinely caring Lola Nidora; Mendoza, through her Yaya Dub character, for popularizing the “Dalagang Pilipina” image; and Richards for his role of a young gentleman who goes out of his way to prove himself worthy of Lola’s trust and Yaya Dub’s love.
He went on to laud “AlDub” for being model Catholics who are not ashamed to post about their faith online.
But more than the honor that comes with the citation, he pointed out the Catholic Social Media Awards aims to encourage producers, directors, writers, actors, and others in show business to come out with more programs and content that are not only entertaining, but are also steeped in Filipino Catholic values.
