JARO, Iloilo, Nov. 6, 2012?The Archdiocese of Jaro will launch the Year of Faith in Iloilo on November 17, with the theme “Ipangabuhi si Kristo, Ipaambit si Kristo”.
Iloilo’s launching of the Year of Faith will coincide with the feast of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, Patroness of the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Jaro, which is also the National Shrine of Our Lady of Candles.
People from the different parts of Iloilo City will gather as early as 6 a.m. in designated assembly areas: St. Joseph the Worker Parish, St. Clements Parish, Angelicum School and the Plazuela de Iloilo for a “Walk of Faith” at 8 a.m. towards the National Shrine of Our Lady of Candles.
The youth of the archdiocese will perform animation numbers for the faithful at the Cathedral grounds, followed by a welcome address by Bishop Gerardo A. Alminaza, Auxiliary Bishop of Jaro and Rector of the Cathedral.
The Year of Faith will be formally launched at the end of the Eucharistic celebration at 10 a.m. to be presided by Jaro Archbishop Angel Lagdameo.
The faithful are advised to bring packed lunches to be shared during the agape ceremony and the priests are encouraged to join the faithful during lunch.
Rev. Fr. Alex Serania, Chairman of the Commission on Mission, and priest in-charge of the launching of the Year of Faith, said that the activities are aimed to raise awareness of the year-long celebration among the faithful of the Archdiocese of Jaro.
All parishes in Iloilo are inviting schools, communities and organizations to take part in the launching of the Year of Faith.
The committee for the launching of the Year of Faith is also making available for parishes, schools and other interested institutions tarpaulin banners with the logo of the Year of Faith and the nine-year journey for the New Evangelization launched by the CBCP indicating the nine pastoral priorities of the Church in the Philippines climaxing with the Jubilee Year 2021.
