MANILA, March 26, 2014 – No Friday night plans yet? A group is inviting the public to a free March 28 of the movie “The 13th Day” about the apparition of Our Lady at Fatima, Portugal to three shepherd children in 1917.
“The message of Fatima is very much relevant not only to young people but to all people as well.
There is so much confusion and distractions around that people sometimes forget about what is more important, and that is our relationship with God,” said Rea Tan, CFC – Singles for Christ (CFC – SFC) chapter leader of West C1-A, in a recent interview with CBCP News.
Everyone is invited to watch the145-minute film this Friday, March 28 at the San Isidro Labrador Church, Philand Dr., Pasong Tamo, Quezon City from 7:00 p.m.
The award-winning film by Ian and Dominic Higgins is about the little-known story of Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta, the seers of Fatima, as well as what is acknowledged to be the most widely witnessed miracle in modern history. The “Miracle of the Sun” was apparently seen first-hand by some 70,000 people on October 13, 1917 at Cova de Iria, making the Fatima apparitions a cornerstone of modern Marian devotion.
The film screening, organized by the local Singles for Christ chapter, is open to non-SFC members. According to Tan, the group expects at least a hundred people to show up for the special screening.
Despite having happened almost a hundred years ago, Tan said, young people need to hear the message of Fatima even today.
“The message of Fatima is a pressing and lasting reminder for all, and for the generations to come, about the importance of penance and prayer, and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary,” she said.
“We also believe in the impact that the movie can [have] on people and how it can help evangelize and bless the viewers,” Tan added.
