BACOLOD, Nov. 28, 2015 – As the CBCP’s Year of the Poor reached its culmination in this diocese the faithful here were taught once more how to discover happiness as one truly poor in spirit by using their resources to help other people.
In his talk entitled “Happy Money”, Bible scholar Fr. Deogracias Aurelio V. Camon presented some practical guidelines on how to find happiness by helping those in need.
As Director of the Commission on Biblical Apostolate of the diocese of Bacolod, Camon facilitated the seminar workshops on “Loving Kindness: Joy of Giving” to help the faithful celebrate the Year of the Poor.
During the year a series of workshops were conducted with the goal that, towards the end of the Year of the Poor, the participants would be able to come up with a project to benefit the needy.
The Bible scholar elaborated that the term “loving kindness” corresponds to the Biblical concepts of “Hesed” and “Tsedakah.”
The participants of the seminar workshops put into effect their resolution for the Year of the Poor by launching a program on Nov. 21 that will provide 5 families with small livelihood projects.
“The participants hope that this endeavour will provide a sense of solidarity with the poor in a concrete manner,” Camon said.
