MANILA, Dec. 17, 2013—The producer of the religious film San Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir highlighted the importance of evangelizing people through the film, and that alone is already a key to success.
Ida Tiongson of HPI Synergy, who produced the Calungsod film, firmly believed that the movie will inspire other people, especially the youth.
Admitting that “gross sale is pleasing and very good,” Tiongson nonetheless, pointed out it is more important for her that the film become instrument of evangelization.”
“We don’t lose if we can plant the seed of inspiration and evangelization to our young people,” she added.
Tiongson also said they are not afraid of bumping with “big names” during the movie festival.
“Fear or being afraid is not the right word when there is a message that you need to deliver to your audience; it is something that you have to do. Our goal here is to help propagate the story of the teen saint Pedro Calungsod, evangelization of the Philippines, and the best way to do this is through media,” she said.
“We needed the movie to be shown because it is needed by our country right now,” she added.
Tiongson believes that they have a good movie and gave justice in portraying the 2nd Filipino saint.
San Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir premieres tonight, December 17, in SM Megamall, Cinema 7.
The movie is one of the eight official entries for the MMFF 2013 on December 25. (Jandel Posion)
