TACLOBAN City, May 29, 2015 – It is called the highest form of worship, but it is also the greatest source of healing, says a priest.
“Healing happens in all Masses,” stressed Fr. Ronel Taboso, pastor and moderator of Sto. Niño Parish, the biggest parish in Tacloban City, underscoring the fact that it is ultimately Jesus who heals and not anybody in the Holy Mass.
Every Mass heals
The priest said in every Mass, they are given the gift of healing and that “every Mass is healing Mass.”
Healing basically comes with faith, according to Taboso, stating further: “When we confess our sins and believe that we are forgiven, we are healed spiritually and having been cured, we are freed.”
He explained that in the Mass, people receive such healing from God, citing that following the recitation of “I confess to Almighty God” in the penitential rites at the beginning of Mass, the priest would say a supplication for the forgiveness of the congregation’s sins.
God, the Healer
In an interview with CBCPNews, Taboso explained that the people’s illness are usually “connected to their sins.”
The Bible speaks of spiritual healing as remedy to one’s sickness. In the Book of James, it is written: “Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”
The Book of Psalms also makes reference to God as “[He] Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.”
This is also why Taboso believes, all healing Masses should be free. (Eileen Nazareno-Ballesteros/CBCPNews )
