PARAÑAQUE City, August 8, 2014—In celebration of the feast of its patron St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe, Youth Immaculata Philippines invites the Catholic faithful to a free event on August 14, Thursday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe Seminary, John Paul St. Multinational Village Paranaque City.
The full schedule is as follows:
• 1:30 p.m. — Introduction and Orientation of new Militia Immaculata (M.I.) members to be consecrated to Our Lady
• 3:00 p.m. — Talk “Reflection on the Life of St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe” by Fr. Jude Winkler, OFM Conv.
• 5:00 p.m. — Holy Eucharist
St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe (1894-1941)
Called by his Polish compatriot Pope St. John Paul II as “The Patron Saint of Our Difficult Century,” St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe was born January 8, 1894 and died August 14, 1941 a martyr.
Also known as Maksymilian or Massimiliano Maria Kolbe and “Apostle of Consecration to Mary,” he was baptized Rajmund Kolbe, was a Polish Conventual Franciscan friar who volunteered to die in place of an unknown Jewish family man in the Nazi concentration camp of Auschwitz in Poland.
He was raised to the altar as St. Maximilian Kolbe on October 10, 1982 by John Paul II, and declared a martyr of charity.
He is the patron saint of drug addicts, political prisoners, families, journalists, prisoners and the pro-life movement.
