MANILA, July 27, 2013—A film documentary made by an international news network on fight against human trafficking was launched in the country to raise awareness on stories of victim-survivors of human trafficking.

The showing of Cable News Network’s (CNN) “The Fighters” was held at the Rizal High School in Pasig City on July 19.

The film chronicles the journey of celebrate Human Rights activist Cecilia Oebanda and world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao as they joined hands in fighting human trafficking in the country while also presenting stories of victim-survivors and the challenges in winning the fight.

“The film has put the country in international spotlight since it first aired in May this year and has generated greater interest in the cause of ending human trafficking,” Visayan Forum Foundation, Inc. who is the organizer of the event said.

During the same event which was attended by around 3,000 students and teachers, the organizer also launched a national movement called “iFight Against Human Trafficking,” a movement of fighters against human trafficking who are raising awareness among the youth and enlisting commitments to take concrete and effective actions.

“It will focus on encouraging the youth to bring the fight to their communities and their multiple social circles such as schools and Churches, to knock-out human trafficking. Social media platforms of the movement were introduced complete with reporting mechanisms for cases of human trafficking,” organizers added.

The Fighters Roadshow will tour campuses, Churches and communities across the country and will showcase a special screening of the film and a forum on human trafficking.

Meanwhile, the iFight Movement is a continuous advocacy to stop human trafficking in the country. (Jandel Posion)
