VIRAC, Catanduanes, Jan. 17, 2014—A total of 140 participants were in attendance to the Family Life Ministry (FLM) conference held at the Risen Christ Pastoral Complex here on January 11, Family and Life Commission (FLC) Director Sr. Marian Grace Tayo, CSJB, said.
Laypeople and also couples from the diocese’s 21 parishes and the seven mission churches gathered for a whole day of workshop on family and life, she said.
The FLM conference met the participants to identify issues affecting family life and to figure out keys to helping these concerns according to the teachings of the church, Sr. Tayo said.
Workshops on formation on marriage and family, and on pastoral care were part of the activities joined by the FLM participants, she said. The activities were in line with the context of evangelization.
The objective of the gathering is to help the family according to the perspective of the Catholic Church.
The event opened with a Eucharistic Celebration with Most Reverend Bishop Manolo A. de los Santos as celebrant, Sr. Tayo said.
Fr. Joseph de la Providencia, Office for Evangelization Director, also spoke in the FLM conference.
The delegates to the FLM conference came from the five vicariates of the island diocese, namely, Bato, Pandan, San Andres, Viga and Virac.
The 21 parishes of the diocese and the seven mission churches were represented in the whole day FLM conference, the FLC director said.
The FLM conference was the first of the series of the diocese’s activities prior to the Ruby Foundation Anniversary this year, Sr. Tayo said.
The Ruby Foundation Anniversary will be observed in the Month of the Basic Faith Communities, which is August, on its 27th day.
The recently concluded FLM conference was also the first activity of the diocese in its calendar of activities for 2014. A vicarial conference on FLM will follow a couple of weeks on January 25 in the Vicariate of Bato.
