MANILA, Nov. 20, 2013—Two days before the 2nd Catholic Social Media Summit (CSMS v2.0), an anonymous benefactor pledged to sponsor registrants from areas devastated by typhoon ‘Yolanda’ in the Visayas.
The announcement came today, November 20, during a press conference with Msgr. Paul Tighe, summit’s keynote speaker and Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications in the Vatican.
Ms. Sky Ortigas, YouthPinoy officer-in-charge and event head of CSMS v2.0 announced that a generous benefactor would like to sponsor all participants who will be coming from affected areas in the Visayas.
“Marami kasing hindi makakapunta because of what happened to them. So right now, the sponsor told us, for those coming from Leyte, Samar, etc. will be sponsored on the registration fee for the summit,” Ortigas said.
“Those who are partially registered from the typhoon affected areas will receive a text message stating that they shouldn’t be worried on paying registration fee,” she added.
Meanwhile, participants from the Visayas who are in evacuation centers here in Manila can also avail of the free registration.
They just need to register at www.catholicsocialmediasummit.
Ortigas emphasized that they will just rely from the word of those participants availing the free registration who cannot show a valid ID that they really are from affected areas in the Visayas.
The free registration will apply starting today until the November 23, 1st day of the summit.
“So please tell all your friends that are from affected areas in the Visayas who are interested to join the summit that they can be with us,” Ortigas furthered.
CSMS v2.0 will be held on November 23-24, 2013 at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran. (Jandel Posion)
