MANILA, June 14, 2015—After over a month of prayers and reflections, some 30 Catholics formally offered themselves to the Blessed Virgin Mary, entrusting to the maternal care of her most Immaculate Heart everything they are, have, and do to get them closer to Jesus in a simple consecration ceremony held on Saturday, June 14, at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Loreto in Sampaloc, Manila.
The participants, all members of the Militia Immaculatae (MI), promised that from that day on—the Feast Immaculate Heart of Mary—they will be Mary’s and she will be theirs, knowing that in her they share with the Lord a heavenly mother and protector.
“By virtue of your consecration, you have just entered into a relationship with the Blessed Virgin … and that relationship is that which a mother and her children have between them,” said Fr. Cesar Macariola, the group’s spiritual director.
If before they had a shallow encounter with the Mother of God, the priest stressed that now is the time to cultivate and deepen it.
These newly adopted children of Mary, including a few teenagers, started their journey towards consecration 33 days before in keeping with the directions laid down by St. Louis-Marie Grignon de Montfort and St. Maximilian Kolbe.
Each day leading up to their day of consecration, participants recited the “Morning Glory” in honor of Mary.
Besides the consecration, they received Miraculous Medals, statuettes of the Blessed Virgin, and certificates of consecration. (Raymond A. Sebastián/CBCP News)
