MANILA, Jan. 22, 2013— Christians are urged to help a campaign, which aims to put a Bible in every home and encourage Filipinos to read and live the Scripture by getting their shoes on.
The “May They Be One (MTBO) Bible Run 2” will take place on March 9 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila and runners – and walkers – can now sign up.
The Bible Run 2 has 3K, 5K, and 10K categories, which may be joined by students for a special rate of P250. Finishers may get National Service Training Program (NSTP) credit certificates.
Non-students may join in 3K and 5K for P350 and in 10K for P500.
Last year, around 6,000 runners joined the fund raising event to provide million copies of the Bible to five million poor Filipino families.
The CBCP’s Episcopal Commission for the Biblical Apostolate is spearheading the campaign in partnership with the Philippine Bible Society and other Christian churches.
This year’s run, which also seeks to increase Bible awareness in the country and to improve interest in Bible reading, will feature colorful boats depicting Biblical scenes and events.
The PBS earlier said that the supposed five-year campaign has been extended until 2015 because they have so far been able to provide only 750,000 copies of the Bible since 2008.
To join, go to www.raceforlife.org or www.facebook.com/BibliYaman, or call the PBS secretariat at 526-7777 local 631.
Sign-up forms are also available at any PBS Bible House and Philippine Christian Stores in Metro Manila. (CBCPNews)
