MANILA, Dec. 7, 2013—The Archdiocese of Manila officially closed the Year of Faith with the ordination of three deacons to the priesthood.
Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle on December 7, ordained Reverends Marion Noel Quinto Bayaras and Kali Pietre Mingoy Llamado of San Carlos Seminary and Rev. Gilbert Palanca Kabigting of San Jose Seminary to the sacred order of priesthood at the San Fernando de Dilao Parish church in Paco, the official temporary church of the archdiocese.
The ordination at 9 am was preceded by the MAGPAS assembly –the archdiocese’s first Saturday catechesis – and the ceremony for the closing of the Year of Faith, according to the archdiocese’s website.
Manila’s celebration of the Year of Faith included various activities in the parish and vicarial levels and intensified catechesis on the tenets of the faith. The observance was highlighted by the holding of the first Philippine Conference on New Evangelization (PCNE) on October 16-18 at the Pontifical University of Sto. Tomas.
The three-day conference gathered around 7,000 participants and volunteers from the archdiocese as well as neighboring dioceses and also from the Asian Continent and the United States. (CBCPNews)
