CACERES, June 30, 2014 — For the formal opening of the academic school year for Caceres seminaries, more than 200 seminarians gathered for the mass of the Holy Spirit last June 9, Monday, where some ‘major’ changes in seminary life were announced.
During the Eucharistic celebration, Caceres Vicar General Msgr. Rodel Cajot, P.C. gave everyone an idea of the changes for the school year, which included not just new assignments but logistical movements as well.
“Today, we witness again another movement,” he said, announcing the assignment of two new rectors to the crucial role of seminary formation.
Msgr. Juan Celzo, it was announced, remains rector of the Holy Rosary Preparatory Seminary. Meanwhile, last March, Fr. Mario Gaite was appointed rector of the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary.
Consequently, Fr. William Parde would assume office as rector of the Holy Rosary Major Seminary, taking over the role of Msgr. Roberto Carpio, now parish priest of St. John the Baptist Parish in Goa, Camarines Sur.
In addition, certain logistical changes will also be observed. Most Philosophy seminarians have transferred to the Major Seminary, leaving the Minor Seminary inhabited by Grade 7, Grade 8, and first year Philosophy seminarians.
According to Cajot, come 2015, the Minor Seminary will be occupied by high school students alone.
All college seminarians are to stay at the Major Seminary.
At the beginning of the celebration, the three rectors presented the seminarians, their faculty and staff to the Vicar General.
After which, the Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity were observed.
Held at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd of the Holy Rosary Major Seminary, the mass was also concelebrated by seminary priest-formators. (Natalie Hazel Quimlat)
