MANILA, April 4, 2014 — A new book on a family’s personal experience of a miracle through Padre Pio’s intercession was launched last March 24.
Written by the Ambassador of Costa Rica to the Holy See, Fernando Felipe Sánchez Campos, the book “A Spiritual Son Is Born: Our Story with Padre Pio of Pietrelcina”, is recommended by Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, who encourages the faithful in the book’s foreword to “narrate their own story of God who always knocks on everyone’s heart through a saint.”
“This book is nothing more than the story of how I discovered God’s work in my own life and in the life of my family,” said Ambassador Campos at the book launching organized by Ambassador of the Philippines to the Holy See, Mercedes A. Tuason and formally opened by Cardinal Tagle.
In the book, Campos narrated the miraculous intercession of Padre Pio for his son, who was diagnosed with an atrial flutter, just hours after birth; and for his wife who began to have renal hemorrhage and respiratory problems after giving birth
Translated from Spanish to English by Lourdes Mendoza, the book recounted how Campos was spiritually strengthened through the trial of faith, and how he felt God’s assurance that the final outcome would be fruitful. His family has since become devoted to Padre Pio in gratitude for answering their prayers.
It also includes a short biography of Padre Pio and a chapter with different sets of verses, quotations and passages from the Holy Bible, which the author felt had helped him develop spiritually. The epilogue talks about his family’s personal encounters with Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis. The appendix also includes prayers and meditations of Padre Pio, which the author hopes along with his story, may help “renew the faith and hope of those seeking and needing the mercy of God.”
The book launch was held at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club. (CBCPNews with reports from Mary Concepcion T. Matias)
