BACOLOD City, Nov. 30, 2011—The Diocese of Bacolod’s home for the retired and sick clergy is set to be inaugurated by Most Rev. Vicente M. Navarra, D.D. on December 15 at 2:30 p.m.

Called the St. John Mary Vianney Complex, the newly-constructed buildings are located on a sprawling 5-hectare lot in Silay City, 14 kms north of Bacolod City.

The building complex’s facilities include a hospice for retired and sick priests, a dormitory, a covered pavilion, a basketball court, guesthouses and individual houses for priests.

The hospice will replace the old Domus Dei located in the Sacred Heart Seminary Compound as a place for retired and sick priests of the Diocese. The St. John Mary Vianney Complex, however, will not only cater to the needs of sick and retired priests but will also serve those who are still active in the ministry.

Construction and development of the St. John Mary Vianney Complex is still going on. Although the buildings have been completed, the facilities still lack utensils, furniture and fixtures.

The members of the clergy themselves are the first to support the St. John Mary Vianney Complex with various forms of fund raising projects, including personal financial contributions.

On November 25, 2011, the Bacolod clergy staged a new musical concert at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum.

Proceeds from the recent concert, as well as those that had been staged in the past years, all went for the continuing support of sick and retired priests and of the construction of St. John Mary Vianney Complex.

But generous donations given personally by individuals significantly expressed their deep gratitude for the services rendered by the clergy.

Those interested to donate to the St. John Mary Vianney Complex may contact Msgr. Noly Que of Queen of Peace Parish, Bacolod City, at (034) 432-2932. (Fr. Deo V. Camon/ Fr. Mickey Cardenas)
