BACOLOD City, July 28, 2014 — As all eyes in the country focus on the Batasang Pambansa Complex to watch President Benigno S. Aquino III deliver the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28, the faithful in the diocese of Bacolod will troop have a prayer vigil on the same day after a holy mass.
According to the Cathedral Rector, Rev. Fr. Felix Pasquin, the “Prayer Vigil for Integrity, Accountability and Transparency in Public Service”, which will be held at the San Sebastian Cathedral, aims to raise the awareness of the faithful for the need of authentic public service that is marked with integrity, accountability and transparency, not with cover-ups, corruption and self-serving agenda.
In the context of the present issues on the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) and the Priority Assistant Development Fund (PDAF), “the Prayer Vigil is an expression of condemnation of the perceived partiality and “partisanship” in the investigation and that of corruption as a whole,” Pasquin explained.
“At the same time”, the Cathedral Rector added, “it is a movement for hope that through the guidance of the Holy Spirit our government officials will pursue the common good of the Filipino people.”
During the prayer vigil, there will be talks on the “Three Branches of the Government and DAP,” “Issues on DAP” and “Integrity, Accountability and Transparency in the Biblical Perspective”.
The adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, to be held after the talks, will be the highlight of the prayer vigil.
Bacolod Bishop, the Most Rev. Vicente M. Navarra, DD, will deliver the final message and give a blessing to the faithful at the end of the prayer gathering. (Fr. Mickey Cardenas)
