BACOLOD City, Oct. 15, 2014 – This year, the Diocese of Bacolod recognized the Blessed Virgin’s singular example to the laity by having a special celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary on Oct. 12.
Themed “Maria Sulundan sang Pilipino nga Laiko”, the observance of the feast was moved to the second Sunday of October, a few days after the traditional feast date of Oct. 7, to give the celebration a more fitting dignity due to the Blessed Virgin being the Secondary Patroness of the Diocese.
As part of the annual celebration, a Living Rosary was prayed every night starting Oct. 3 and a Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral every 5:15 p.m. with various sponsoring schools and universities in attendance.
A 10 a.m. concelebrated Mass was held on Oct. 12 at the San Sebastian Cathedral presided over by Bacolod Bishop Vicente M. Navarra, D.D.
A procession of the image of the Most Holy Rosary was held at 5:00 p.m. from the San Sebastian Cathedral with various lay associations participating.
After the procession, Mayor Monico Puentevella led the Prayer of Consecration.
For the past years, there has been an active collaboration between the San Sebastian Cathedral Parish and the Bacolod city government in celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary as part of the city tourism program. (Fr. Mickey Cardenas)
