Art contest in search of Pinoy ‘Michelangelos’

MANILA, Oct. 28, 2014—You think you’re a Michelagelo, a Leonardo, or maybe an Amorsolo? Read on.

The Manila Archdiocesan Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church (MACC) invites those with a knack for the visual arts to take part in the 8th annual painting competition it is holding from October until December of this year.

With religion as the heart of the contest, qualified participants will be asked to work on any subject related to the Catholic faith.

The contest, which is open to Filipino students and out-of-school youths, ages 15 to 25 years old, aims to foster contemporary artistic interpretations of the Catholic faith, particularly among young artists.

It also seeks to promote awareness and appreciation for religious art.

Cash prizes for the winning entries are as follows:

1st Prize – PhP 40,000.00

2nd Prize – PhP 30,000.00

3rd Prize – PhP 20,000.00

Three (3) Jurors’ Choices – PhP 10,000.00 each

Deadline for submission of entries is on Dec. 18, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Museo ng Arkidiyosesis ng Maynila, 3/F Arzobispado de Manila, 121 Arzobispo St., Intramuros, Manila.

Awarding of winners will be announced at a later date.
