American Jesuit in PH dies on Marian feast

MANILA, Aug. 27, 2015 – Fr. Bob Suchan, S.J., who served in the Philippines for 56 years, died on Aug. 22, Feast of Mary the Queen, before 6 p.m. at the infirmary of the Jesuit Residence.

He was 89-years old, 71 years of which he lived as a Jesuit, 59 years as a priest.

Wake Masses scheduled at the Oratory of St. Ignatius, Loyola House of Studies, Ateneo de Manila University, for his eternal repose were held on Aug. 23 and 24 at 8 p.m.

A Funeral Mass was held on Aug. 25, after which Suchan’s remains were interred at the Sacred Heart Novitiate Jesuit Cemetery.

He was born on March 17, 1926 and was once the Director of the Rizal Library at the then Ateneo School of Arts and Sciences. (CBCP News)
