GUIGUINTO, Bulacan, May 24, 2016 – How much sacrifice does 15 years of priesthood require? The 15th presbyteral anniversary of Immaculate Conception Major Seminary (ICMAS) formator Fr. Rainnielle Payawal Pineda on May 19 showed why all the hardwork and sacrifice of priesthood is worth it and more.

“All the hardships and sacrifices were worth it for Fr. Pineda. Why? Because in his years of serving the Lord and this community, he has been loved by God. If you follow His commandments, God loves you!”, said Msgr. Andres S. Valera, H.P., Episcopal Vicar for the Northern District of the Diocese of Malolos and former ICMAS rector, during a 5:00 p.m. Mass at the Immaculate Conception Theologate Chapel with 15 priest-concelebrants, seminarians, family, and friends present.

Reflecting on the theme of the celebration taken from John 13 on the New Commandment, “Love one another”, Valera emphasized much of Pineda’s hard work in his ministry as Prefect of Discipline of the ICMAS – Graduate School of Theology for 15 years since he was ordained a priest.

Valera had been rector of the seminary for nine years, at the same time Pineda was Prefect for the Theology Department.

In his thanksgiving address, Pineda said he has been blessed in his 15 years as a seminary formator. According to him, he will be on sabbatical leave by the beginning of the academic year 2016-2017, opting to adjust to the demands of parish ministry after serving for more than a decade in the seminary setting. He said, “The seminary experience has taught me many things. Now with this time, after 15 years here, I wish to take up the challenge of a new chapter in my ministry as a priest. I have been grateful for everything that this seminary has done for me.”

‘God loves you!’

He ended with words of encouragement for the soon-to-be priests: “I wish all the seminarians the best as you continue to answer to the call of becoming future priests. The challenges ahead will be difficult, but always remember that God loves you!”

A native of San Miguel, Bulacan, Pineda is a member of the clergy of the Diocese of Malolos. One of his first assignments was to be assisting minister at Sto. Niño Parish in Bustos, Bulacan, St. Ildephonsus Parish in San Ildefonso, Bulacan and the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Sagrado Corazon de Jesus in Cruz na Daan, San Rafael, Bulacan.

He also serves as Secretary to the Diocesan Commission on Clergy and has served in various positions both in the seminary and in other ministries in the diocese. (Kendrick Ivan B. Panganiban / CBCP News)
