GUIGINTO, Bulacan, Aug. 6, 2015 — “If you have not experienced God’s mercy, you will not be able to share it.”
This was the message of Fr. Emmanuel I. Cruz, rector of the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary (ICMAS) to the seminarians of ICMAS during the Holy Mass celebrated in honor of the recent feast day of St. John Mary Vianney on Aug. 4 at the Philosophy Department Chapel of the seminary.
Dispensers of God’s Mercy
“St. John Mary Vianney never ceased to become an instrument of God’s mercy,” the priest said.
“Through his devotion to the sacrament of Penance, St. John Vianney became a dispenser of God’s mercy,” Cruz added.
He urged the seminarians to always seek God’s forgiveness through the Sacrament of Penance. He said the sacrament of Penance is the avenue where they will experience reconciliation with God and receive His mercy.
‘Meet the Diocesan Priest’
“The sacrament of Reconciliation is the true riches of every priest and seminarian. It is where you personally receive the mercy of God,” Cruz exclaimed.
ICMAS also held the annual “Meet the Diocesan Priest” (MDP) program in the evening of the Feast of St. John Mary Vianney at the Theology Department Chapel. MDP is an activity where diocesan priests are invited to talk to the seminarians and share about their experiences as pastors.
This year, two senior clergy from the Diocese of Malolos were the MDP guests, namely Msgr. Adalberto Vergara, PC, the Episcopal Vicar for the Southern District and parish priest of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Meycuayan City, and Fr. Leocadio de Jesus, Episcopal Vicar for the Eastern District and parish priest of St. Laurence the Deacon and Martyr Parish in Balagtas, Bulacan. (Arvin Ray Jimenez/CBCPNews)
